Honorary Newfoundlanders
Do you think your friends are worthy to become honorary
Newfoundlanders? Follow the official homesicknewfies.com steps
provided and they will be welcomed in Newfoundland as one of our own.
Rules:
1) This ceremony must be performed by a natural born
Newfoundlander.
2) The candidate must wear a
Sowester hat while taking part in the ceremony.
3) The candidate must perform one of the following actions
- Kiss a Cod
- Kiss a Puffin's Posterior
- Eating a piece of Newfie Steak (slice of bologna)
- Eating a piece of hard tack (Hard Bread)
4) After completing step three, the candidate must drink a shot of
Newfoundland Screech (Only Newfoundland Screech is acceptable no
substitutions)
5) The person performing the ceremony then recites the following
toast:
- Though your head might feel logy right now,
Keep your new friends tight.
'cause God help ye all,
yer one of us tonight.
At this point the ceremony is over and the candidates are now
Honorary Newfoundlanders. Provide them with one of the following
certificates. An example on how to fill it out also provided here.
